I am here to welcome you to Chicago and will make you love your new home!
My name is Helen Grahe, I am 16 years old and a Junior (2026) at British International School of Chicago, South Loop. I moved to Chicago in 2021 and have completely fallen in love with the city!
I was born in Japan, Tokyo, I then moved to my home country Germany, Stuttgart. At the age of 10, I moved to Sweden, Stockholm, and after 3 years I moved to Chicago.
I have a lot of experience with moving and making unfamiliar places a home! I know how hard it can be for children and stressful for parents, to settle in and feel comfortable. I am here to help you!
I will show your kids the hotspots of Chicago, introduce them to my friends, and Chicagos culture, find your hobbies, and hidden food gems!
It can be very overwhelming to come to such a big city, but the small neighborhoods, beaches, and more make it a true unique experience and home.
There is never a dull moment in Chicago, in summer you can go to the beach, shopping and lay in the parks. In the winter you can go ice skating downtown, watch a movie, or enjoy the freezing cold wind!! Theres tones of concerts and music festivals happening downtown Chicago year-round such as Lollapoalooza and Summer Smash!

About me!
My name is Helen Grahe, and I moved to Chicago in 2021.
Since then, I've totally fallen in love with the city. I've been
playing field hockey my whole life and also play tennis and
ice hockey. I started golf in Chicago and love playing next
to the lake with friends! Skiing with my family is one of my
favorite activities, and I love hanging out with my friends.
When I’m hanging out with friends, we go shopping, stroll
around the city, and, of course, hit the beaches. I live in
Lincoln Park, which is an amazing neighborhood full of
cute boutiques and delicious restaurants.
I love being outside, listening to music, and enjoying some
good food. There's never a dull moment in Chicago, and I
try to make it to every event to soak up everything the
city has to offer.
Moving to Chicago was a bit tough at first, especially
getting used to the new culture and figuring out how to
stay safe. But by being street-smart and aware, I've
managed to feel comfortable and enjoy my new home.
